Jozani Mangrove Retreat – Secluded Paradise

This beautiful mangrove property is based on two plots of land, one situated on a headland and the other on a small peninsula, enveloped by mangroves on three sides and extending into the Pete Inlet. The first parcel, located at the end of the peninsula, covers an area of 12,400 sqm. Meanwhile, the second parcel, spanning 11,600 sqm, is positioned at the headland just before the peninsula, approximately 150m away from the first parcel. This plot carries larger trees, more forest vegetation, and a small farming area, further containing a small house and storage unit.

Hidden within the 700-year-old Baobabs are a 12m high Tree House platform covering an area of 110 sqm, set on stilts between 3 large baobabs. It offers stunning views of the Pete bay and Uzi island across the mangroves.

These plots are located approximately 35 km on the main road from Stone Town to Paje. From the Pete Corner, we access a sand track of 1.5 km via the Pete Village and down inside the buffer zone of The Jozani-Chwaka Bay National Park, home to the indigenous Red Colobus and Brown Sykes monkeys.

Other tourism projects close by are the Butterfly Centre and the Turtle Sanctuary. This rural area is home to around 800 inhabitants who live mainly from farming, fishing, beekeeping, butterfly rearing, and crab fattening.
